ABOUT ROOT OF THE MATTER

Root of the Matter is more than a garden, it’s a movement in Rochester, NY, planting seeds of healing, sovereignty, and self-determination through the land. From backyard gardens to community plots, we help our people grow food that feeds the body, honors our roots, and builds collective power.

We offer personalized gardening services, CSA shares, and hands-on workshops that reconnect us to ancestral knowledge and regenerative practices. But this isn’t just about food, it’s about reclaiming what’s always been ours: the right to nourish ourselves, care for our communities, and thrive on our own terms.

We believe in growing with intention. In honoring the wisdom of our elders. In building systems that reflect our values, cooperation, care, and cultural pride. Whether you’re planting your first seed or tending a legacy, you belong here.

This is where land meets liberation. This is Root of the Matter.

MEET OUR FOUNDER & CEO

Born & raised in Rochester, I’ve been gardening for 26+ years. I share the journey of reviving herbal and ancestral plant wisdom and making it practical for today’s changing world. Together we’ll explore regenerative gardening, herbal medicine, and community traditions, all while growing beauty and food.
